We recognise the continuous and deep connection to Country, of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first peoples of this nation. In this way we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, sea, the waters and sky. We pay tribute to the Elders past and present as we also respect the collective ancestry that has brought us all here today.
As the community prepares for an upcoming referendum on an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, Sententia Consulting sees this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to unify Australia as a country. We believe it is essential that our first Australians are recognised in the Constitution and that their perspectives are heard on the decisions that impact their communities. The Voice to Parliament is a key mechanism for achieving this. We see the Voice to Parliament as just the beginning and will continue to support ongoing efforts to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including through giving effect to the generous invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
We acknowledge that this is a sensitive topic and not everyone will agree. Ultimately, we encourage everyone to inform themselves and vote with your conscience when the time comes. We will be working with our colleagues, clients and networks to have conversations to support the outcome of an informed decision by the Australian community.
Sententia Consulting supports an Indigenous Voice to Parliament and acknowledges Australia’s First Nations people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and their continuing connection to land, waters, and community. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
